Crafting Email Copy from Complex Product Material for Clarity Campaign

Apr 24, 2024 · 4 min read

Overview

Product leadership wanted to explore a sales email campaign for Clarity, a document-processing product. But the only existing materials were long, dense, and not written for quick marketing use. I was asked to help turn this complex content into concise, persuasive messaging for prospective healthcare customers.

🧩 The Problem

The Clarity sales sheet and data sheet were informative but too technical and vague to function as effective marketing. The Associate Director of Documentation and I were tasked with producing clearer, catchier content that could form the basis of a future email campaign — despite limited marketing context or product familiarity.

💡 My Solution

To ground my writing, I first created a list of targeted questions to better understand Clarity’s value, audience, and positioning. After gathering answers from product SMEs, I wrote two alternative pieces of concise and benefit-oriented copy.

Both versions aimed to be:

  • Easy to scan
  • Rooted in product functionality
  • Framed around healthcare professionals’ pain points

✍️ Sample 1

Clarity helps me get back to helping patients

Skip data entry and let Clarity automatically convert your documents into patient records

Less paperwork, more healthcare
Clarity reads your incoming faxes, identifies information that belongs in your patient records, and pre-populates the relevant EHR fields. It even works on hand-written forms and multi-patient documents.

The choice is clear

  • Eliminate data entry with artificial intelligence. Clarity takes patient information from documents you receive and puts it where it belongs in your EHR system.
  • Increase efficiency through machine learning. Clarity learns your specific processes and gets better over time, but you always remain in control.
  • Reduce burnout from unnecessary tasks. Clarity deciphers complex and hard-to-read documents quickly, so you have more time to spend with patients.
  • Improve patient satisfaction by doing more of what you do best. Clarity ensures your records are complete and accurate, allowing you to provide patients with better care, shorter wait times, and quicker referrals. And this leads to faster recovery and optimal outcomes.

📈 Results

As with many cross-functional projects, I wasn’t looped into final decisions or distribution. However, the revised content was shared with both the Manager of SEO Content and the Senior Director of Product Marketing, and served as a test case for future email content efforts.

This project shows my ability to repurpose dense technical materials into user-focused, marketing-ready language — a key skill in product documentation, UX content, and beyond.
